Local Natural Farming at its Best
At Heritage Naturals, we are not a commercial farming operation. Instead, we deliberately choose to maintain a small farm with breeds that are hand-selected to grow slowly, range on pasture, and then be processed manually, for a product that is superior in both taste and health to commercially available meat. In addition to being a local farm, we support our
community and economy by purchasing our feed from local farmers and businesses. Here at Heritage Naturals, we are committed to quality, sustainability, and excellence.
How Do We Do It?
From the start, our animals are raised in small batches in large pens to prevent overcrowding. Their open-bottomed cages allow them to do what animals do naturally– eat grasses and insects, scratch the ground, and lounge in the sun. These pens are moved daily to allow access to fresh ground. Our larger poultry are allowed to range freely on fenced pasture. In addition, our hogs are kept in
portable pens that are also moved daily, which results in a healthier animal with no need of antibiotics. Finally, our animals are carefully moved short distances for processing, to reduce stress and prevent any taint of the meat. We own and operate our own state-inspected facility on-site to process our poultry and rabbit. All these steps ensure that at Heritage Naturals, you always get what we promise: a Happy Bird.
